Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • To be considered, an applicant must have a minimum of one year full time nanny employment experience that is current or very recent and other related child care employment or post secondary education. We are primarily referring nannies that have been placed and/or screened through our service previously. But we will consider new applications from nannies who have current and extensive nanny experience.  Most of our positions are with children birth to 5-6 years of age so employment experience with this age group is required unless the job is with school age children. .
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • Because of the requirements for prior nanny employment experience and preference for post secondary education, applicants will typically be at least 24 years old.
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position: Full Time, 40 hours in 4 days, this is a one year position

Start Date: June 24

Location: Corcoran

Children: 3 month old girl and 2 year old boy  There are three older children, 5 and 7 year old girls who are with the family 50% of the time, 2 mornings during the week, and a 14 year old boy.

Compensation:  Up to $800 per week

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: Tuesday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm

Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with newborn and toddler age children, 5 or more years of nanny experience, background in early childhood education

Description:   The parents are seeking an experienced nanny to care primarily for the two younger children. The two older girls would just need breakfast and help to get them ready for the school day. They have other care on non school days. The toddler boy is coming from organized daycare and the parents want to continue to foster his learning and social skills during his time at home with the nanny. It's important that the nanny provide transportation to and from learning activities and socialization opportunities  for the 2 year old. This will range from library activities, music classes and play groups. This is a busy and active family that enjoys being outdoors and the older children play sports.

Type of Position: Full/Part Time, 32 hours in four days

Start Date: July

Location: Edina

Children: 4 month old and 2 1/2 and 4 year old boys

Compensation:  Minimum of $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation

Schedule: Tuesday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny experience and infant care experience, First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain, current flu and Tdap vaccination or willing to obtain

Description:   The primary responsibilities for the nanny will be caring for the infant and 2 1/2 year old in the home. The parents are looking for a nanny who loves to play outside, walking to the park or in the yard. It's important that she supports a learning and caring environment for the children to develop their emotional and developmental skills. The older boy will be starting full time preschool in the fall and the toddler will attend preschool two mornings per week. The parents will do school drop offs and afternoon pick up for the older boy. This is a family that loves to be active playing outdoors as much as possible, spending time at the cabin, reading books, pretend play and games and learning activities.

Location: Maple Grove

Children: 1 year old boy and 2 1/2 year old girl 

Compensation:  Up to $960 per week

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm

Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with newborn, toddler and preschool age children, previous long term nanny experience, current CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain

Description:   The parents are seeking an experienced nanny to create a stimulating, nurturing and safe environment for their children. The would like the nanny to plan age appropriate educational activities, teach good social manners and participate in leading the children to Christ. In addition, they would like the nanny to prepare simple dinners for them and order groceries/household supplies. Seeking a long term commitment from an individual. The parents plan to have more children and would like stability in the children's lives. The nanny is responsible for bringing the toddler to part time preschool and other activities. Strong communication is necessary (ie: responses to emails and texts quickly. The family lives on the West side of Maple Grove in a new home with sport court. The neighborhood has a pool and park for summer fun.  This family has successfully employed a nanny through our service.

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 hours per week, schedule will vary

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Maple Grove

Children: 5 month old boy and 3 year old girl 

Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: The schedule varies, some full days and some part days, minimum of 20 hours per week. The mother typically knows her schedule two weeks in advance.

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for infants and preschoolers, First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain, current flu and Tdap vaccinations or willing to obtain

Description:  Childcare is the primary focus of this job. If time allows, the family would appreciate help with laundry, pick up toys and dishes.

Type of Position: Part Time, 3 days, 24 hours per week guaranteed, see details below

Start Date: March 25

Location: Minneapolis, Kenwood

Children: 4 month old girl and 3 year old boy

Compensation: $22 per hour, $528 per week guaranteed

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: The nanny is needed for 3 days per week that will change weekly but will be known at least 3 weeks in advance. The family can accommodate requests for specific on/off days. Days will start at 7:30 am and be 8-9 hours long. Compensation is guaranteed for 24 hours per week additional pay if hours exceed 24 per week.

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for infants and preschool age children, long term commitment 

Description:  The three year old will attend preschool three days per week and nanny will take him with the infant girl along for the ride. On non school days, the neighborhood has parks, a library and a rec center nearby. The parents expect that the nanny will engage both children in reading, playing with them and engaging them in crafts and age appropriate  educational activities. Both children nap in the afternoon giving the nanny time to clean up after them and periodically do their laundry. The family lives in the city and they enjoy getting out and taking advantage of all that it has to offer. They enjoy outdoor activities and take time to expose the children to music, museums and adventures outside the home.

Type of Position: Part Time, 90 hours per month guaranteed, flexible schedule  and will know in advance, see details below

Location: Minneapolis, Kingfield

Children: 3 month old girl

Compensation: To $22 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation

Schedule: The hours are quite variable. The family will need early morning coverage as well as late evening coverage. Weekends will also be required. The parents will guarantee to pay for 90 hours per month and they know their schedule well in advance.

Description:  If you are dependable and are seeking a very flexible part time job with guaranteed compensation, this is a great opportunity for you. The parents know their schedule needs well in advance. They are seeking a caring and kind nanny who will creatively plan fun learning activities for their daughter. She will start attending a neighborhood child care part time so there may be occasional need  to drop her off or pick up, The dog will also be home and will occasionally need to be fed and let out or taken for a walk. The family is an active family that enjoys the outdoors and getting together with friends and family.

Type of Position: Full time, 40 hour per week

Location: Minnetonka

Children: 1 1/2 year old boy and 4 year old girl

Compensation:  $20+ per hour, depending on qualifications

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, daytime hours. Exact schedule to be determined with the candidate. 

Additional Qualifiers: Previous childcare or teaching experience with toddler and school age children. College degree and background in early childhood education is preferred. CPR/First Aid certified.

Description:  The parents are seeking a long term, responsible and dependable nanny to provide excellent care for their two young children. ideal candidate would be able to help with school pick up, drop off, and activities/outings when the children are not in school. The family is looking for someone who is nurturing, organized and willing to help with household duties related to childcare.

Type of Position: Full or Part Time,  25-40 hours per week in five days or a combination of full  and part days, see schedule options below. The family can be flexible and can also consider long or short term (minimum of 6 months) placement.

Location: Minnetonka

Children: Two boys, one is almost 2 years old and the older boy is 4 years old

Compensation:  $20 per hour

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: Full Time Monday/Wednesday/Friday 12:00 to 6:00 pm and Tuesday/Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

Part Time Monday through Friday 12:00 to 6:00 pm, or a combination of full and part days

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for toddler and preschool age children, First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain

Description:  The boys are currently in full time day care but the parents would like to have them go to daycare either shorter days or fewer days. The mother in this family is experiencing some health issues so they are looking for assistance for her and quality care for their children. They would love an experienced energetic nanny who will take the boys on fun outings, to parks etc. and drive to or from day care. Help with the children's meals, laundry and light housework is also required.

Type of Position: Full Time,  35-40 hours

Location: Wayzata

Children:   2 and 6 year old boys

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: PTO, holidays and contribution to medical insurance. The family provides a vehicle for transporting the children.  

Schedule: 35-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, daytime and evening hours. Exact schedule to be determined with the candidate, Occasional weekend, overnight and travel care.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous childcare or teaching experience with toddler and school age children. College degree and background in early childhood development is preferred. The candidate should also be comfortable swimming with children and CPR certified or willing to obtain.

Description:  The parents are seeking a long term, dependable nanny to provide excellent care for their two young boys. The ideal candidate would be engaging and fun, warm and nurturing, responsible and organized and flexible with a positive attitude. The candidate would be interested in child development and excited about working with children to foster their intellectual and emotional development. The job duties would also include managing household duties related to childcare. The older child attends kindergarten during the days. The nanny's duties would include taking the children to school/classes and arranging activities and outings. The family has a vehicle for the nanny to use to transport the children. The mother works part-time from a home office.
