Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • To be considered, an applicant must have a minimum of one year full time nanny employment experience that is current or very recent and other related child care employment or post secondary education. We are primarily referring nannies that have been placed and/or screened through our service previously. But we will consider new applications from nannies who have current and extensive nanny experience.  Most of our positions are with children birth to 5-6 years of age so employment experience with this age group is required unless the job is with school age children. .
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • Because of the requirements for prior nanny employment experience and preference for post secondary education, applicants will typically be at least 24 years old.
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position:  Part Time, 30 hours in three days

Start Date:   August 7

Location:  Edina

Children:    2 1/2 year girl and 5 month old boy

Compensation:  Up to $18  per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule:  Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Additional Qualifiers:  3-4 years of infant and toddler care experience, background in health or  childhood education would be a huge plus as well as a nanny who speaks a second language

Description:  The parents are seeking a nanny who will care for the children in a loving way and help to foster their intellectual, emotional and social development. The two year old girl is very social and attends an ECFE class once a week and the parents would like the nanny to plan playdates for her. The infant boy is a preemie and at a higher risk of getting sick. So, it important that the nanny is up to date on vaccines, health conscious and practice good hand hygiene. The family enjoys spending time outdoors, and with family and friends.

Type of Position: Full Time, Nanny/Household Manager

Start Date: September 5

Location: Edina

Children: 11 year old boy/girl twins and 15 ˝ year old girl

Compensation: Up to $20 per hour, depending on experience

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance. They currently have a minivan for the nanny to transport the children but this will change in the spring.

Schedule: Monday and Wednesday 1:30 or 2:00 to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. When school is not in session, the family may need up to 50 hours per week, depending on the children's camp schedules, 35-40 hours guaranteed.  The family would be very excited if a nanny were willing to be open to working a split shift, before and after school until 6:00 PM.

Additional Qualifiers: Experienced nanny who enjoys working with school age children and is seeking a long term position. Previous household management experience is a plus and must own a reliable car for transporting the two younger children starting in 2018.

Description: The parents are seeking a nanny who can ensure a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment for school age children. They need assistance to help keep their busy lives organized and the house in order. They need a great nanny who will love and care for the children and be a partner in helping raise and teach them to live respectfully, have good manners and become great people. The children are involved in sports and arts outside of school so transporting them to various activities is a big part of the job in the afternoons. When the children are in school, the job involves management of the household. This includes cooking meals, laundry, light cleaning, grocery shopping, errands, organizing house and organizing playdates and activities.

Type of Position: Full Time, 45 to 50 hours

Start Date: Mid September/early October

Location: Edina

Children: 3 month old girl and 2 year old boy

Compensation: Up to $1000 per week, depending on qualifications and the total number of hours

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The exact schedule and number of hours is still to be determined

Additional Qualifiers: Experience with infant and toddler age children, preference for experience potty training a toddler

Description: This family is seeking an active nanny who will plan and do outdoor and community activities with the children. It's important that the nanny is active, energetic and will engage the children in learning  activities. They have an active toddler and young infant so someone with experience keeping a very close eye on both children is important. They would like the nanny to participate in play groups with other nannies. Assistance with some light housekeeping is required and some help with laundry and  preparing meals would be ideal.

Type of Position:  Full time
Start Date: September
Location: Hopkins, near 169 and Minnetonka Blvd
Children:  5 and 7 year old boys
Compensation:  Up to $900 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation,  holidays and will contribute to medical insurance
Schedule:  Three days per week, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and two days per week 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The family can be flexible on which days are longer and which are shorter to accommodate the nanny's preference.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous full time child care experience with  preschool and young school ages
Description:  The parents are seeking a nanny who  is responsible, mature, a good role model and passionate about making kids their best. It's important to them that she hold the children accountable to rules and practicing safe behavior. The older boy is in kindergarten and the younger boy attends part time morning preschool. The nanny will need to provide transportation for them but both schools are within a few miles of the home. While the boys are in school, the family would appreciate help with basic household chores, grocery shopping, errands, children's laundry and simple dinner prep. This family lives in a great neighborhood with a large yard and the boys are active and enjoy outdoor play.
Pets: One small dog, hypoallergenic, non shedding

 


Type of Position:  Full Time Monday-Thursday,  Nanny+Household Duties

Start Date:  Late August/early fall

Location:  Minneapolis,  Lake of the Isles

Children:  5 ˝ year old girl and 9 ˝ year old boy

Compensation:  Up to $950  per week, depending on qualifications, additional compensation for hours worked over 45

Benefits: Paid time off including vacation and sick days, and the family will contribute $100 per month to a Healthcare Savings Account

Schedule:  Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM plus 5 hours of evening child care per week to be arranged as far in advance as possible. The nanny does need to be able to stay overnight if both parents are travelling. When school is not in session, during holidays or vacation, the nanny may be asked to work different hours.

Additional Qualifiers: High school or college graduate with at least three years nanny/childcare/ teaching experience. Previous household management experience is a plus. Comfort with technology including iPhone, iPad calendar and other apps is a must. Own a reliable car for transporting two children and willingness to commit to at least one year of employment.

Description:  Seeking a mature, energetic, organized, take charge individual to help busy parents care for two school-aged children and manage the household. While childcare is the nanny’s primary responsibility, the children are in school for seven hours a day, so other responsibilities will include various household tasks and errands. Duties include before and after school childcare, homework supervision, transportation to and from school and activities, dinner preparation for the children, children’s laundry, errands, kitchen cleanup, and other tasks related to maintaining the household on behalf of the family.

Start Date: Late August/early September
Location: Minneapolis, near the Walker 
Children:  11 year old girl
Compensation:  Negotiable
Benefits: Negotiable
Schedule:  Monday through Friday 7:15 to 8:30 AM and 3:00-4:15 to 7-8:00 PM,  and sometimes some hours on Saturday morning/afternoon. There will be a few weeks of overnight care required when the grandparents travel
Additional Qualifiers: Previous  child care experience with school age children
Description:  The child is an active and engaging 11 year old girl. She attends a school that specializes in helping children with learning disabilities and this has been great for her. She enjoys ice skating, acting, singing, dancing and clowning. The grandparents have been her guardians for three years. Primary duties of the nanny are to care the girl before and after school, transport her to school and/or activities, prepare her a snack or dinner and provide some homework supervision. The grandparents do like to travel a few weeks per years so then the nanny would need to stay overnight in the home and be responsible 24/7 for the child. She would however be in school during the day.

Type of Position:  Full time

Start Date:  September
Location:  Minnetonka
Children:  6 month and 4 1/2 year old boys
Compensation:  Up to $20+ per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Schedule:  Monday through Friday 9:00 to 5:00 PM with flexibility to shift work hours as needs change based on school schedules and/or occasional evening commitment. Ability to travel with the family is preferred.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny/child care experience with babies and pre-school  age children.  College degree and background in early childhood education or development is preferred. The candidate should also be a strong swimmer and CPR certified or willing to obtain. 
Description:  The parents are also seeking an engaging and dependable nanny to provide excellent care for their two boys. The ideal candidate would be warm, nurturing, energetic and fun. The candidate would also be conscientious, responsible, and able to help maintain a consistent routine and foster the children's emotional and intellectual development.  The mother works part-time from a home office and will sometimes work alongside the nanny to go to the swimming pool or other activities. The older child attends pre-school in the mornings and the nanny's duties would include taking him to pre-school and arranging other activities and outings. The family has a vehicle available for the nanny to use to transport the children.
Pets: None, possibly a dog in the future

   


Type of Position: Full Time

Start Date: Mid September

Location: Mound

Children: 18 month old boy/girl twins

Compensation: Up to $800 per week, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: Average 40 hours per week; both parents work shift work and the nanny's schedule will be made on a 2 month basis. It will include some mornings, some afternoons, some evenings and some weekends.

Additional Qualifiers: Several years of nanny experience, experience with multiples would be a plus

Description: The parents are seeking a loving, caring, honest and dependable nanny to help them raise their children when they are at work.  Duties include reading with the children, playing games, going for walks and light house cleaning/tidying up after the children. It's important that the nanny enjoys being outdoors and can use her own car to take the children out in the community; car seats are provided.

Type of Position:  Part time, 20 hours in two days

Start Date: ASAP
Location: Richfield and most likely moving to Edina
Children:  3 month and 3 year old girls and a 5 year old boy
Compensation:  Up to $23 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days
Schedule:  Two consecutive days; preferred is either Monday and Tuesday or Tuesday and Wednesday; 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infant to preschool age children and multiple young children
Description:  The parents are looking for a kind hearted and patient individual. Child care is the primary responsibility which includes taking the children to preschool and activities. It is preferable that the nanny use her own car to transport the children and the family will reimburse for mileage but they may be able to provide a car.  This is an active family that enjoys getting outdoors.
