Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • To be considered, an applicant must have a minimum of one year full time nanny employment experience that is current or very recent and other related child care employment or post secondary education. We are primarily referring nannies that have been placed and/or screened through our service previously. But we will consider new applications from nannies who have current and extensive nanny experience.  Most of our positions are with children birth to 5-6 years of age so employment experience with this age group is required unless the job is with school age children. .
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • Because of the requirements for prior nanny employment experience and preference for post secondary education, applicants will typically be at least 24 years old.
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position:  Full time

Start Date: June 5 if possible, no later then the end of June
Location: Eagan
Children:  3 month old boy/girl twins
Compensation:  Up to $20  per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid time off and  paid holidays
Schedule:  Monday through Friday 7:30 to 4:30 PM.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny experience with infants, nanny experience with twins is preferred
Description:  The parents are seeking a nanny who is loving, nurturing, confident, patient, positive, respectful fun and reliable. They are looking for a nanny who will deeply are about the children, be attentive to their needs and have fun with them each day! It's important that the nanny engage them in age appropriate activities to stimulate them and enhance their development. They would like the nanny to take them on walks and spend times outdoors on nice days.
Pets: 3 year old Labrador Retriever and 6 year old Siamese cat
 
Type of Position:  Full time, 4 or 5 days, whichever the nanny would prefer
Start Date: No later than August 1, could start anytime sooner
Location: Edina
Children:  2 1/2 years and 2 month old boys
Compensation:  Up to $20  per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid time off and  paid holidays
Schedule:  Monday through Thursday or Monday through Friday 7:00 or 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The family is open to employing a nanny for four or five days per week, whichever is her preference.  
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infant and toddler age children, previous nanny experience and youthful and energetic
Description:  This is a family that spends lot of time outdoors and with family that lives nearby. The parents are seeking a nanny who will focus on and dedicate their time to the children's needs in a fun and energetic way. An easy going yet attentive, caring, fun, outgoing nanny with good communication skills will enjoy this job. The older boy attends preschool part time. This family has successfully employed a nanny through our service.

Location: Edina
Children:  1 and 3 year old boys
Compensation:  Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and  paid holidays
Schedule:  Monday through Friday 8:30 to 5:00 PM.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with toddler and preschool  age children, previous nanny experience and experience caring for two young children
Description:  Providing excellent loving care for the two boys is the nanny's primary responsibility. The parents are seeking a nanny who will engage with the boys; singing, reading and doing age appropriate activities that stimulate them and enhance their development. They enjoy getting outdoors and out in the community. The older boy attends part time morning preschool and the nanny will need to pick him up. It is important that the nanny is loving, energetic and will provide the boys with the warmth of a family member.

Start Date: August
Location: Hopkins, near 169 and Minnetonka Blvd
Children:  5 and 7 year old boys
Compensation:  Up to $900 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation,  holidays and will contribute to medical insurance
Schedule:  Three days per week, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and two days per week 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The family can be flexible on which days are longer and which are shorter to accommodate the nanny's preference.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous full time child care experience with  preschool and young school ages
Description:  The parents are seeking a nanny who  is responsible, mature, a good role model and passionate about making kids their best. It's important to them that she hold the children accountable to rules and practicing safe behavior. The older boy is in kindergarten and the younger boy attends part time morning preschool. The nanny will need to provide transportation for them but both schools are within a few miles of the home. While the boys are in school, the family would appreciate help with basic household chores, grocery shopping, errands, children's laundry and simple dinner prep. This family lives in a great neighborhood with a large yard and the boys are active and enjoy outdoor play.
Pets: One small dog, hypoallergenic, non shedding

Start Date: June 15
Location: Minnetonka
Children:  4 month old and 2 1/2 year old boys
Compensation:  Up to $950 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays
Schedule:  Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Previous full time nanny experience, experience with newborns and toddlers, CPR certified or willing to obtain
Description:  The main focus of this job initially is to provide excellent care for the infant. He has some ongoing health issues including severe acid reflux. It's important that the nanny has the patience to care for a young infant who can be very fussy and upset when he is in pain. The older boy attends part time daycare and in the beginning will be out of the home from morning until mid afternoon.  The nanny will need to drop off and pick him up. Over time, his daycare will likely change to half day. The parents are seeking a nanny who will engage with the boys; singing, reading and doing age appropriate activities that stimulate them and enhance their development. They also want a nanny who is willing to take the boys out for activities in the community and play dates with other children.

Type of Position: Full time, minimum of 35 hours per week guaranteed, typically averages 38 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Stillwater
Children:  3 year old girl and 4 1/2 year old boy
Compensation:  Up to $20  per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation,  paid holidays, paid sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Schedule:  Monday through Friday typical start time is between 6-7:00 AM. End time could be as late as 6:30 PM but is usually between 2-5:00 PM. The family does require that the nanny be flexible but she will know her schedule 30 days in advance. The current nanny averages 38 hours per week.
Additional Qualifiers: Experienced career nanny with 5+ years of nanny experience.
Description:   The parents are seeking an experienced  nanny who will love on the kids all day, help shape them into caring and productive members of society and make it easy/comfortable for them to go to work every day. Someone who is organized, takes initiative and can set her own day will thrive in this household. The current nanny of 2+ years is an integral part of the family but due to the family moving, she no longer can continue with them. This will be transition for all but the parents are optimistic that there is another great nanny out there for their family. The children enjoy playing outdoors. They attend part time preschool and are involved in lessons and activities outside the home.
Pets: One Yellow Lab and one garage cat

Type of Position:  Full Time, Household Manager/Nanny
Start Date:  June
Location:  Wayzata
Children:  10 year old girl and 18 year old twin boys (in college in the fall)
Compensation:  $800+  per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Two weeks paid vacation and holidays, willing to consider a contribution to medical, the family provides a vehicle for transporting the younger child and running errands
Schedule:  The schedule is typically as follows: Monday and Wednesday 12:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday and Friday 7:00 AM to 5-6:30 PM and Thursday 12:00 to 9:30 PM. The parents do some travelling and then the nanny would need to stay overnight.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with school age children, experience with household management, mature with good time management skills
Description:  The girl who is just finishing up 4th grade needs to be picked up from school, escorted to activities and help with homework. She is a type 1 diabetic so nanny will need to learn how to manage this. Household management duties to be performed while she is in school include cooking, shopping, errands, light housekeeping and laundry/ironing. The parents do have  busy schedules and occasional week night events. The father has a flexible schedule and is around so he and the nanny work together daily. This family has had the same nanny for 17 years. Her job has evolved from nanny to home manager. She moved to Minnesota recently with the family. However, she wants to be closer to home and her family.
