Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • To be considered, an applicant must have a minimum of one year full time nanny employment experience that is current or very recent and other related child care employment or post secondary education. We are primarily referring nannies that have been placed and/or screened through our service previously. But we will consider new applications from nannies who have current and extensive nanny experience.  Most of our positions are with children birth to 5-6 years of age so employment experience with this age group is required unless the job is with school age children. .
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • Because of the requirements for prior nanny employment experience and preference for post secondary education, applicants will typically be at least 24 years old.
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position: Part Time,  Monday through Friday for 20 hours with some guaranteed weekend hours, nanny would know the weekend hours at least one month in advance 

Start Date:  December 2

Location: Edina

Children: 1 year and  5 year old boys

Compensation:  Up to $24 per hour, depending on qualifications 

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule:  Monday through Friday, 3:30 to 7:30 pm. Occasional weekend care also needed, family will guarantee to pay average of five hours per weekend and will know the weekend schedule at least one month in advance.

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience, toddler and older child care experience

Description: The nanny's primary responsibility is to provide excellent care for the younger child. The older boy will be in full time preschool and the parents will do the drop off and pick up. In the evening, the parent who is home would like the nanny to help with both boys as needed for dinner and bedtime routine. The parents have quite busy work schedules and need a nanny who is trustworthy and engaging. The family is moving to Edina in December and will be living in an apartment near Southdale. There are parks and activities for the toddler within walking distance.

Type of Position: Full/Part Time, 36-40 hours per week, 30 hour guaranteed minimum

Start Date: October 28th

Location: Golden Valley

Children: 6 month old boy/girl twins and 2 1/2 year old boy

Compensation:  Up to $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays, will consider a contribution to medical insurance, family vehicle provided for transporting the children

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Approximately every 6th week the mother has a weekend shift so will need less week day child care and that would be a 30 hour week.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny experience and infant care experience, First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain

Description:  This young active family is seeking a nanny for the long term who will grow with their family.  The primary responsibilities for the nanny will be caring for the infants and 2 1/2 year old and providing a fun and nurturing environment. The parents are seeking a nanny who will engage the children in age appropriate physical and educational activities both in the home and outside the home. It's important that the nanny is a good communicator and passionate about caring for children.

Type of Position: Evening and Weekend Nanny

Start Date:  ASAP

Location: Wayzata

Children:   2 and 6 year old boys, infant due in early November

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: PTO, paid holidays, contribution to medical insurance and eligible for annual bonus. The family provides a vehicle for transporting the children.  

Schedule: Typical schedule would be 30-35 hours per week, Wednesday through Friday 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturdays 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Sundays 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.  Potential for additional regular hours. Occasional travel and overnight care.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous childcare experience with infants, toddlers and school age children. College degree and background in early childhood development or teaching is preferred. The candidate should also be comfortable swimming with children and CPR certified or willing to obtain.

Description:  This active family is seeking a positive and dependable evening/weekend nanny to help care for their two young boys and baby on the way in the fall. They are looking for a candidate who is engaging, warm, nurturing, professional, organized, patient and kind.  The ideal candidate would be flexible and easy-going, and able to jump in and care for the children independently or serve as an extra set of hands alongside Mom or Dad. Duties would include: general childcare, playing, mealtime, bedtime, taking one or two kids to an activity or on an outing, and accompanying the family on outings. The candidate would also be able to assist with household tasks including tidying up the playroom and kid's rooms, loading/unloading dishwasher and tidying up the kitchen, folding children's laundry and getting organized for the week ahead.
