Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • To be considered, an applicant must have a minimum of one year full time nanny employment experience that is current or very recent and other related child care employment or post secondary education. We are primarily referring nannies that have been placed and/or screened through our service previously. But we will consider new applications from nannies who have current and extensive nanny experience.  Most of our positions are with children birth to 5-6 years of age so employment experience with this age group is required unless the job is with school age children. .
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • Because of the requirements for prior nanny employment experience and preference for post secondary education, applicants will typically be at least 24 years old.
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position: Part Time, Nanny/Household Manager, 4 or 5 afternoons per week

Start Date: August

Location: Chanhassen

Children:  6 year old girl and 8 year old boy

Compensation: $20 per hour

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days

Schedule: Monday through Thursday or Friday 12:00 to 6:00 pm. The family is open to a 4 or 5 day schedule. 

Additional Qualifiers: Minimum of at least one year experience as a full time nanny, reliable and accountable

Description:  This fun active family is seeking both childcare and household management. Duties include after school care for the children, meal planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, errands and laundry (no cleaning). The family's lifestyle is centered around fun family time, outdoor adventures and hard work. The parents have demanding jobs but prioritize family time in the evenings and on weekends. The children love to play with each other, build things, be outside and laugh and be silly. They are a highly organized family and value consistency and reliability. The nanny needs to be comfortable with water as they live on a lake.

Pets: 13 year old gentle Yellow Lab and they are adding a bunny to the family this spring


 

Type of Position: Full Time

Start Date:  Early to mid July

Location: Eden Prairie

Children:   3 month old boy

Compensation: Up to $900 per week, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for an infant 

Description: The parents are seeking a nanny who will provide excellent loving care for their son. This is a healthy family and the parents enjoy walking, running and sports.

Type of Position: Full Time

Start Date: No later than the end of August, could start earlier, the family is flexible on start date

Location: Edina

Children:   One 6 month old girl and two boys who are 4 and 6 years old

Compensation: Up to $1000 per week ($20 per hour), depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance, the family provides a van for transporting the children

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm

Additional Qualifiers: Infant care experience, experience with older children and multiple children, current CPR or willing to obtain

Description: Expected duties to include providing loving and high quality child care for the infant girl, playtime with occasional outings and activities, walks,  children's laundry and dinner prep. There are two older boys who are in full time school and preschool. They will only need care late afternoons and on non school days during the school year. In the summer, they will be home more but not full time.   This is an active family that enjoys the outdoors, reading, cooking gardening and time with friends. They keep a fairly tidy house. An organized pro-active nanny who has suggestions for fun outings and activities would be a good fit for this family.

Start Date:  July or August

Location: Edina

Children:   2 month old girl and a two year old boy who is in daycare

Compensation: Up to $900 per week, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Additional Qualifiers: 5+ years of nanny experience preferred, current CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain, education in child development is preferred but not required

Description: Expected duties to include providing diligent care for the infant girl, playtime and taking her for walks.  When the older boy is on break from daycare it will be expected that the nanny care for both children. The parents are seeking an experienced friendly nanny with good organizational skills. An understanding of child development and milestones is expected. The is a busy family that enjoys being outside, going for walks and seeing family and friends on the weekends. The parents spend a lot of time reading with their son and participating in imaginative play.

Pets: One Wheaten miniature Terrier and one older very shy cat


 

Type of Position: Part Time, average of 25 hours in three days

Start Date: Mid to late summer

Location: Edina

Children:   15 months and 2 1/2 year old boys and expecting a baby in June 

Compensation: $20 per hour

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: Three days per week, total hours would be between 20-30 hours per week with an average of 25. Some days are 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and some are 6:00 am to 1:00 pm and the days the nanny is needed will vary from week to week. The schedule is known 1-3 months in advance. Additional hours required one weekend per month.

Additional Qualifiers: Healthy, mature and previous experience working with young infant and toddler age children, current on vaccinations and okay with annual flu vaccination. 

Description:  Child care, meal prep, children's laundry and engaging the boys in age appropriate activities are the expected duties. The nanny would often be caring for the children while one parent is also home. There  will be extended family, from time to time, visiting for weeks to months during which the nanny will still work her regular hours. The older boy will be starting preschool in the fall which is one block from the home and he will need to be walked to and from. There is no driving required.

Children:  5 month old boy and 2 year old girl 

Compensation: Up to $960 per week

Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm

Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with young infant to preschool age children, previous nanny experience, CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain

Description:  The parents are seeking an experienced nanny to create a stimulating, nurturing and safe environment for their children. They would like the nanny to plan age appropriate educational activities, teach good social manners and participate in leading the children to Christ. In addition, they would like the nanny to prepare simple dinners for them and order groceries. They live  in a great neighborhood close to a large park and the library. This family has successfully employed a nanny though our service.

Type of Position: Full Time, for 42-44 weeks per year

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Minneapolis, Kenwood

Children:  7 year old boy and 12 year old girl

Compensation: Up to $800 per week, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance. The parents currently have 8-10 weeks of vacation per year. They will pay the nanny for two weeks and the other time off is unpaid. Nanny can know her unpaid time off many months in advance.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:30 am to 3:30-5:00 pm, some days are shorter. The schedule is variable but the parents know it three months in advance. The job averages about 40 hour per week.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with school age children, willingness to be flexible, punctual and able to start early morning.

Description:  The parents are seeking an experienced nanny to get the children up and ready for school in the morning and transport them to and from school and extra-curricular activities. The nanny will also assist with planning activities for the children and monitoring free time activities.  Light housekeeping to keep the children's rooms and work/play areas clean and tidy and do children's laundry. The children are avid readers, participate in extra-curricular activities and enjoy the outdoors.   This family has successfully employed  nannies though our service. This is a great job if you value time off!

Location: Minnetonka, near Highway #169 and Minnetonka Blvd

Children:   4 month old and two year old boys

Compensation: Up to $900 per week, depending on qualifications

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Additional Qualifiers: Long term nanny experience  with children of all ages, current CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain,  post secondary education related to child development is preferred but not required

Description: The parents are seeking an experienced nanny who will grow with their family for years to come.  They would like the nanny to help the boys learn in a fun and loving environment. Daily reading and outdoor activity (weather permitting) is important.  They ask that the nanny work with the children on developmental activities to ensure that they are tracking to their developmental milestones. The older boy will be attending a near by preschool   part time mornings so the nanny will need to take him and pick him up. This is an active family and they enjoy spending time outdoors and with family and friends.  Both parents have demanding but somewhat flexible jobs and may at time work from home so it is important that the nanny is comfortable with this.
