Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • To be considered, an applicant must have a minimum of one year full time nanny employment experience that is current or very recent and other related child care employment or post secondary education. We are primarily referring nannies that have been placed and/or screened through our service previously. But we will consider new applications from nannies who have current and extensive nanny experience.  Most of our positions are with children birth to 5-6 years of age so employment experience with this age group is required unless the job is with school age children. .
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • Because of the requirements for prior nanny employment experience and preference for post secondary education, applicants will typically be at least 24 years old.
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 hours per week

Start Date:  April or May

Location: Deephaven

Children: 8 1/2 year old boy/girl twins

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance 

Schedule:  Tuesday and Thursday, 2:00 to 8:00 pm and one weekend 8 hour day; Friday, Saturday or Sunday, rotating and very flexible for weekend hours.  There is also a need for 2-3 overnights approximately every 6-8 weeks.

Additional Qualifiers: Experienced nanny with experience caring for school age children, reliable and comfortable around water

Description:  This family is looking for a reliable, committed and fun nanny who enjoys outdoor activities, games and crafts. Depending on the day and schedule, the nanny may pick the children up from school. transport to activities and prepare dinner. 

Pets: Two hypoallergenic dogs


 

Type of Position: Part Time, 24-26 hours per week in two days

Start Date: March 4

Location: Eden Prairie

Children: 2 year old girl  and 5 year old boy

Compensation: To $22 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation

Schedule: 6:30 am to 6:30-7:30 pm, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the end time will typically be closer to 6:30 with the rare occasion of later due to parent's work, bad weather or commute. There are no other hours are required but if the nanny is interested, there could be extra hours for an occasional parent date night.

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience, First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain, potential for many years of employment with the family

Description:  The family would love a nanny who is interested in playing games, reading books, arts and crafts, educational activities and playing outdoors in the yard and nearby park. There is no screen time during the course of the day. The job involves morning routine for the children, meal and snack prep, starting the bedtime routine before the parents return home so they can maintain a consistent bedtime.  In the fall, the older boy will be starting kindergarten.

Type of Position: Part/Full Time, 24-35 hours per week in four or five days, see schedule  details below

Start Date: Flexible, could start immediately or sometime in February or March

Location: Edina

Children:   12 1/2 year old boy and girl twins and 17 year old girl

Compensation: To $22 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 12:00 to 6:00 pm for 30 hours or Monday through Thursday, same schedule, for 24 hours per week.  If the nanny would like up to 35 hours, they can add more hours on one or two days per week.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny and household management experience with school age children. College education and/or teaching experience is a plus.

Description: This is a great family that has hired several nannies through our service over the years. The parents are seeking a nanny who can ensure a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment for their school-aged children. They also need help with management for their household with duties to include meal preparation, grocery shopping, errands, organizing house and play dates and activities.  It's important that the nanny is mature, energetic and enthusiastic and can partner with the parents to guide the children in their social/emotional development. Transporting the two younger children to activities in the afternoon is a big part of the job and the family reimburses standard per mile compensation.

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 hours per week, schedule will vary

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Maple Grove

Children: 5 month old boy and 3 year old girl 

Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: The schedule varies, some full days and some part days, minimum of 20 hours per week. The mother typically knows her schedule two weeks in advance.

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for infants and preschoolers, First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain, current flu and Tdap vaccinations or willing to obtain

Description:  Childcare is the primary focus of this job. If time allows, the family would appreciate help with laundry, pick up toys and dishes.

Type of Position: Part Time, 16 hours per week in two days

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Minneapolis, near lake Bde Maka Ska

Children: 6 month old girl 

Compensation: To $22 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation

Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, ideally on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the family can be flexible to consider other days and times

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for infants, First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain, college degree preferred but not required.

Description:  The primary focus of this job is to provide attentive loving care for the child and perform standard childcare activities.  The family enjoys going for walks around the lake and spending time outdoors when the weather is nice. No driving is required so the nanny is not required to own a car.

Type of Position: Part Time, 25 hours per week in five days, see schedule options below

Start Date: March 1

Location: Minneapolis, Lynnhurst

Children: 6 month old boy/girl twins

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, or 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, the family can also consider a four day week, 6 hours per day.

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for infants required and experience with twins is strongly  preferred , First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain

Description:  This job involves nurturing the babies and attending to all their needs including reading and  going for walks in a beautiful neighborhood near Lake Harriet and Minnehaha Creek. The parent is a single mom who is looking for someone she can trust implicitly to care for her babies while she works from home and is away from the home running errands. She would also like the nanny to help with baby laundry, washing bottles and unload dishwasher while they are sleeping.

Pets: One 12 pound dog and one cat


 

Type of Position: Full Time, 40 hours per week

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Minneapolis, near 50th and France

Children:   3 month old boy

Compensation: To $800 per week, depending on qualifications

Schedule:  Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny experience with infants, early childhood education preferred but not required, CPR certified or willing to obtain

Description:  If you love to provide individual care for an infant, this is a great opportunity. The parents are seeking a nanny who will provide excellent, attentive and loving care for their son. Maintaining a daily routine of feedings, naps and playtime is  the focus of the job.

Pets: Two English Bulldogs who are 1 1/2 years old, they are  littermates and affectionate and well behaved


 

Type of Position: Full Time

Start Date: Mid April

Location: St Louis Park

Children:  4 month old girl, 3 1/2 year old boy and 5 1/2 year old girl  

Compensation: To $1100 per week,  depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance, family provides a vehicle for transporting the children 

Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, extended hours may be asked of the nanny if a parent is travelling

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for infants and multiple children, First Aid and CPR certified and current vaccinations

Description:  Safety, great care and development of the children is the nanny's primary responsibility. The parents are seeking a nanny who will really be a part of their family. The family enjoys lots of activities outside the home plus a good mix of playing together and being creative at home.  They are looking for someone that they can trust in their home, genuinely like to be around, can take charge but also be respectful of family dynamics and rules. Currently, the two older children are enrolled in a child care center. The older girl will be in kindergarten in the fall and the parents would like to keep the preschool boy in the center on a part time basis. There will be transportation involved with the nanny using the family's vehicle.

Location: Wayzata

Children:   1 1/2 and 5 1/2 year old boys

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: PTO, holidays and contribution to medical insurance. The family provides a vehicle for transporting the children.  

Schedule: 35-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, daytime and evening hours. Exact schedule to be determined with the candidate, Occasional weekend, overnight and travel care.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous childcare or teaching experience with toddler and school age children. College degree and background in early childhood development is preferred. The candidate should also be comfortable swimming with children and CPR certified or willing to obtain.

Description:  The parents are seeking a long term, dependable nanny to provide excellent care for their two young boys. The ideal candidate would be engaging and fun, warm and nurturing, responsible and organized and flexible with a positive attitude. The candidate would be interested in child development and excited about working with children to foster their intellectual and emotional development. The job duties would also include managing household duties related to childcare. The older child attends kindergarten during the days. The nanny's duties would include taking the children to school/classes and arranging activities and outings. The family has a vehicle for the nanny to use to transport the children. The mother works part-time from a home office.
