Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • To be considered, an applicant must have a minimum of one year full time nanny employment experience that is current or very recent and other related child care employment or post secondary education. We are primarily referring nannies that have been placed and/or screened through our service previously. But we will consider new applications from nannies who have current and extensive nanny experience.  Most of our positions are with children birth to 5-6 years of age so employment experience with this age group is required unless the job is with school age children. .
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • Because of the requirements for prior nanny employment experience and preference for post secondary education, applicants will typically be at least 24 years old.
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position: Full Time

Start Date: January 2018

Location: Eden Prairie

Children: 9 month and 2 1/2 year old girls 

Compensation: Up to $1100 per week, depending on experience and flexibility Additional compensation for any overnights.

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will contribute to the nanny's medical insurance. The family provides a minivan for transporting the children.

Schedule: Monday through Thursday,  7:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Friday 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The parents try to keep the hours to 50 per week total. There are occasional overnights when both parents must be out of town for travel and they would need the nanny to stay overnight.  Some flexibility on start and end times Monday-Thursday may be possible.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous experience caring for infant/toddler age children and background in early childhood development is preferred, comfortable with small dogs

Description:  The parents are interested in a long term relationship with a nanny . They are looking for a nanny who is interested in helping them provide a safe, fun environment for their daughters. The older girl attends preschool two mornings per week and the parents would like the girls to participate in music class and attend other programs the nanny identifies. It's important that the girls spend time outside daily, weather permitting. This family has successfully employed a nanny through our service.

Pets: One active and playful terrier who attends daycare part time during the week.


 

Type of Position: Part Time, 15-20 hours per week

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Minneapolis, near Lake and Lyndale

Children: 14 month old girl

Compensation: Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: The family can be flexible with the actual days and hours to fit the nanny's schedule or other commitments. Ideally, they are looking for three days per week, 6-7 hours per day. But they could be open to four or five shorter days.

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for toddler age children, child development or Montessori background is a plus but not required. CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain. 

Description: The parents are seeking a nurturing warm and fun nanny to care for their daughter. They would like someone who takes initiative and has fun coming up with ideas for age appropriate activities,  play and outings. The mother does not currently work outside the home, so while she will be gone, the nanny would need to be comfortable with her at home as well either working or doing tasks around the house.

Pets: One dog who is home on Tuesday and Thursday and would just need to be let out in the backyard.


Type of Position: Part Time mornings, 20 hours per week

Start Date: February 2018

Location: Minneapolis, Lake Calhoun

Children: 2 year old girl and 6 year old boy 

Compensation: Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: Monday through Friday,  7:00 to 11:00 AM.  It would be ideal, but not required, if the nanny could also work a couple late afternoons per week.

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for multiple children who are in the toddler/elementary school age, experienced driving in snow, ideally not around a lot of cats as a family member has a cat allergy

Description:  The child care duties are to prepare breakfast for the children, get them ready for the day, spend some time on school work and playing and then drive the children to daycare and school in Hopkins.  Then, the  nanny to returns to the home to load the dishwasher and do children's laundry.  The family enjoys spending time together, reading, playing, outdoor activities and they have an indoor pool in the complex which the children love. The children are highly verbal and playful, so someone who has a lot of energy and enjoys talking to and interacting with children would be happiest with this family.

Type of Position: Full Time

Start Date: December 4

Location: Minneapolis, Uptown

Children: Three girls who are 3 months, 2 years and 7  years old and a boy who is 5 years old

Compensation: Up to $42,000 annually, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider up to $1500 annual contribution to medical

Schedule: The hours will vary week to week, typically between 7:30 AM and 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The typical schedule is a recurring 4 week schedule with at least one busy week of approximately 55 hours and 3 weeks with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours. The weeks with less hours often have work needs that are flexible allowing days off during the week. The parents also hope to have help with a date night once a month on a week night.

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for multiple children, infant to school age,  CPR/First Aid certified  or willing to obtain and an excellent driving record

Description: The parents would like a nanny who not only provides excellent child care but fosters fun, creativity and education. Other child care expectations include meal prep, homework help and transportation to activities. The nanny does not need to use her own car for this. Both parents work demanding jobs and they value their time together as a family. They enjoy the outdoors, playing at the park, bike riding and time with friends.

Type of Position: Full Time, Nanny Share, two infants

Start Date: January 2018

Location: Minneapolis, Uptown

Children: Two 3 month old boys 

Compensation: Up to $900 per week, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical

Schedule: Monday through Friday,  8:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for multiple infants, CPR/First Aid certified  or willing to obtain

Description: These two families are seeking an experienced nanny to care for two infants in a nanny share. Three days per week care will be for both babies and on two days per week, just for one baby.  Care will alternate between the two homes which are quite close to each other. The parents are seeking a nanny with a knowledge of child development who will provide excellent care and engage the children in age appropriate play and activities. The nanny should be dependable, honest and trustworthy. Both families enjoy outdoor activities including walking, biking and spending time at family cabins.

Pets: There is a cat in each household

 

 


 

Type of Position: Part Time, 30 hours per week for 48 weeks per year, 1440 hours annually

Start Date: ASAP

Location: St Paul, Cathedral Hill

Children: 2 boys who are 3 1/2 and almost 2 years old and an infant due in November

Compensation:  To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Guaranteed pay for 30 hours per week for 48 weeks per year

Schedule: Several options are possible and will be worked out on a case by case basis according with the family's and nanny's shared needs. Simplest would be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Alternatively, the family can have a flexible schedule that changes week by week, that is pre-arranged a few months ahead of time.

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infant to preschool age children, post secondary education preferred and the ideal would be someone who has raised children of her own but this is not required

Description: The ideal nanny will be interested in teaming up with the parents to raise their children to be thoughtful and caring individuals. This family enjoys an active lifestyle and outdoor activities. The parents foster open communication and honesty and. They are hoping to find a nanny to bond with their family for years to come. The boys currently attend Montessori school four mornings per week and this is within walking distance of the home. The boys are quite independent and interested in a variety of educational activities. The mother will be home on maternity leave for four months after the baby is born in November and be the primary caregiver for the baby during this time.

Type of Position: Full Time, 35-40 hours per week

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Wayzata

Children: 8 month and  4.5 year old boys 

Compensation:  $20+ per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: 35-40 hours over 4-5 days. Exact schedule to be determined with the candidate. Ideal candidate would have the flexibility to work some evenings and the ability to occasionally travel with the family. 

Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny/childcare experience with babies and pre-school age children. College education and background in early childhood education or development is preferred. The candidate should also be comfortable swimming with children and be CPR certified or willing to obtain. 

Description: The parents are seeking an engaging and dependable nanny to provide excellent care for their two boys. The ideal candidate would be warm, nurturing, energetic and fun. The candidate would also be conscientious, responsible and able to help maintain a consistent routine and foster the children's emotional and intellectual development. The mother works part-time from a home office and will sometimes work alongside the nanny to go to the swimming pool or other activities. The older child attends pre-school during the days and the nanny's duties would include taking him to and from school and arranging other activities and outings. The family has a vehicle available for the nanny to use to transport the children.
