Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • To be considered, an applicant must have a minimum of one year full time nanny employment experience that is current or very recent and other related child care employment or post secondary education. We are primarily referring nannies that have been placed and/or screened through our service previously. But we will consider new applications from nannies who have current and extensive nanny experience.  Most of our positions are with children birth to 5-6 years of age so employment experience with this age group is required unless the job is with school age children. .
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • Because of the requirements for prior nanny employment experience and preference for post secondary education, applicants will typically be at least 24 years old.
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position: Part Time, 38 hours every other week and one day a week on opposite week

Start Date: October

Location: Blaine

Children: 8 month old girl

Compensation:  $20 + per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: Every other week, Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

On the opposite week, Thursday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infant and toddler age children, college education, background in teaching or nursing is preferred

Description: To put the needs, safety and quality care of the child first is the nanny's primary responsibility. It's important that the nanny engage her in age appropriate play, daily reading, outdoor play  and provide activities that will enhance her growth and development. This is an easy going family that loves spending time together. The father works in a home office in the lower level and will not be involved with the child during the day. The parents would like the nanny to be current on vaccinations and annual flu shot.

Type of Position: Full time

Start Date: November 1, 2017 or earlier

Location: Minneapolis,  Cedar Lake

Children:   18 month old girl; second baby girl to be born in January 2018

Compensation:  Up to $950 per week, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation/sick days, holidays, and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule:   Monday through Friday start at 8:00 AM and end at 5:30 or 6:00 PM, the family can be flexible on the schedule and it will remain constant

Desired Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of  child care experience, a professional career child care provider, prior experience caring for young infants, current CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain, flu shot required annually, strong communication skills, child-focused, organized, proactive and ability to multi-task, cooking skills preferred, willingness to be flexible and travel as needed.

Description: The parents are seeking a patient, honest, kind and loving nanny who will nurture their daughters, maintain their well being and enrich the lives of the family.  The toddler is a happy, engaging and bright child, so the nanny will be able to stimulate and engage with her (i.e., reading, nature walks, talking, music, fun experiences, etc.). Also, mom is bilingual, so the toddler understands English and Vietnamese. She has been full time with a professional nanny since she was 4 months old. She will likely be starting Montessori when she’s 3 years old need drop off and pick up.  There is a new baby girl arriving in early January 2018. Mom is staying home for parental leave for 3-4 months during that time. The parents believe in healthy and regular nap/sleep schedules and food/eating habits, so would like someone who is good with maintaining that. The priorities for both children will be to nurture and be attentive to their needs so that they feel secure and loved. Mom and dad are two professional executives who would love to have someone who has some time flexibility for an average of 40-50 hours a week and can help support our family in their professional endeavors. Those include within the 40-50 hour average maintaining an orderly household, occasional nights and weekends and being available for some events and travel as needed. They are also flexible when needed with their current nanny.  Nanny will also need to bring kids to visits with their great grandmother twice a week, and other activities such as music class, story time etc.  the family often travels and have taken our current nanny with them. A new nanny with a great relationship with the family could be invited to join the family on travel for work and vacations as well!

Pets: One 120 pound Newfoundland who is friendly and good with the baby, while there is a fenced in yard, a short walk with the dog once a day or as needed would be appreciated.

Start Date: November

Location: Minneapolis, Lake Calhoun

Children: 6 month and 2 year old girls 

Compensation: Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days

Schedule: Monday through Friday,  9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Additional Qualifiers: 5+ years experience caring for infant/toddler age children college education and background in early childhood development is preferred, current CPR or willing to obtain

Description:  The parents would like the nanny to provide excellent care for the girls, take them to the park and engage them in age appropriate play.  This family is relocating to Minneapolis and will be in an apartment home near Lake Calhoun. Nanny must be comfortable with the mother at home as she is not currently working outside the home.

Type of Position: Full Time

Start Date: October

Location: Minneapolis, near the Guthrie

Children: 16 month old boy 

Compensation: Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: Monday through Friday,  9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, these hours can be discussed with nanny

Additional Qualifiers: Minimum of three years experience caring for infant/toddler age children as a nanny or in daycare, some college education and background in early childhood development is preferred

Description: It is  important  to the parents that the nanny provide caring and nurturing care to their son.  They would like the nanny to engage him in safe, fun and age appropriate activities such as reading, art projects, motor skills and outings to enhance his growth and development.  There is garage parking for the nanny in the condo building. The parents would like the nanny to be current on vaccinations and annual flu shot.

Type of Position: Full Time, 35 hours per week guaranteed if nanny is flexible, see schedule below.

Start Date: December19

Location: Minneapolis, Southwest near 50th and France

Children: 4 month old boy 

Compensation: Up to $20 per hour on week days and up to $22 per hour for evening or weekend hours, depending on qualifications and flexibility

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: The schedule is variable week to week depending on the father's work and mother's travel schedule. They typically will know the schedule two months in advance but there may be some travel for the mother that comes up 1-2 weeks in advance. If the father is working, they would need the nanny to be flexible to cover that. Start time could be as early as 6:00 am and as end time as late as 2:00 am but this would be rare. They would highly prefer if a nanny would be willing to work some weekend hours once or twice a month but she would have some weekdays off so on average she wouldn't bow working more than 5 days per week. They anticipate that the average number of hours per week would be 35-40. The benefit of a flexible schedule for the nanny is that she will have some weekdays free and still only be working 4-5 days per week.

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infants, CPR certified, prefer early childhood education  but not required, ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule with advance notice. 

Description: The nanny's primary responsibility is to  provide excellent care for the infant. The parents are seeking a nanny who will provide great care for him and help him thrive and learn. This is an active family that enjoy getting outdoors, going for family walks with the dog and exercising. The parents would like the nanny to be current on vaccinations and annual flu shot.

Pets: One dog and one older cat


 

Type of Position: Full Time, 33-35 hours per week, January through September 2018

Start Date: January 2018

Location: Minneapolis, Southwest

Children: 3 month, 4 year and 7 year old boys 

Compensation: Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days

Schedule: Monday through Friday, start at 8:30 or 9:00 AM  and work until 3:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and until 4:30 PM on Wednesday and Friday

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infant and older children

Description: The nanny's primary responsibility is to  provide excellent care for the infant. The two older children are in school and would only be home when school is closed or if one is sick. This is a laidback family that enjoys spending time together and getting outdoors. The older boys love to create so the playroom is filled with art supplies and Legos. Mom works from a home office that is upstairs and fairly removed from the rest of the house. The parents are hoping to find a nanny who feels at home in their house, enjoys spending time with their children and can relate to them as an equal.   The parents would like the nanny to be current on vaccinations and annual flu shot.

Type of Position: Part Time, Tuesday and Thursday

Start Date: Mid October

Location: Minneapolis, South

Children: 3 month old boy and 2 1/2 year old girl

Compensation: Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays

Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, occasionally may need to start at 6:30 AM, would be great if the nanny is available to work one Friday per month but this is not required

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infant and active toddler age children

Description: This family enjoys the outdoors and it's important that the nanny take the children out, weather permitting. There are parks and playgrounds, many within walking distance of the home. The parents are seeking a nanny who is smart, active, fun and will positively impact their children. The father works from a home office when not travelling so nanny must be comfortable with this. The parents would like the nanny to be current on vaccinations and annual flu shot.

Type of Position: Full Time, Nanny Share, two infants

Start Date: January 2018

Location: Minneapolis, Uptown

Children: Two 3 month old boys 

Compensation: Up to $900 per week, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical

Schedule: Monday through Friday,  8:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for multiple infants, CPR/First Aid certified  or willing to obtain

Description: These two families are seeking an experienced nanny to care for two infants in a nanny share. Three days per week care will be for both babies and on two days per week, just for one baby.  Care will alternate between the two homes which are quite close to each other. The parents are seeking a nanny with a knowledge of child development who will provide excellent care and engage the children in age appropriate play and activities. The nanny should be dependable, honest and trustworthy. Both families enjoy outdoor activities including walking, biking and spending time at family cabins.

Pets: There is a cat in each household

 

 


Type of Position: Full Time

Start Date: Open, whenever they find the right nanny

Location: Mound

Children: 18 month old boy/girl twins

Compensation: Up to $800 per week, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: Average 40 hours per week; both parents work shift work and the nanny's schedule will be made on a 2 month basis. It will include some mornings, some afternoons, some evenings and some weekends.

Additional Qualifiers: Several years of nanny experience, experience with multiples would be a plus

Description: The parents are seeking a loving, caring, honest and dependable nanny to help them raise their children when they are at work.  Duties include reading with the children, playing games, going for walks and light house cleaning/tidying up after the children. It's important that the nanny enjoys being outdoors and can use her own car to take the children out in the community; car seats are provided.

Type of Position: Part Time, 24 hours in 4 days plus an occasional date night

Start Date: October/November

Location: St Paul, near McKnight Road and Highway 94

Children: 2 year old girl

Compensation:  $18 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation

Schedule: Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and they would appreciate an occasional date night and flexibility to work occasional Friday but this is not a requirement

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for toddler age children, background in education is preferred

Description: The ideal nanny would be actively involved and engaged in play with the child. She does have a dance class and the parents would like the nanny to diver had and go on occasional outings. This family has successfully employed a nanny through our service but she is not able to continue working with them.

Type of Position: *** Schedule options updated, see below, Part Time, 30 hours per week for 48 weeks per year, 1440 hours annually

Start Date: ASAP

Location: St Paul, Cathedral Hill

Children: 2 boys who are 3 1/2 and almost 2 years old and an infant due in November

Compensation:  To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Guaranteed pay for 30 hours per week for 48 weeks per year

Schedule: Several options are possible and will be worked out on a case by case basis according with the family's and nanny's shared needs. Simplest would be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Alternatively, the family can have a flexible schedule that changes week by week, that is pre-arranged a few months ahead of time.

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infant to preschool age children, post secondary education preferred and the ideal would be someone who has raised children of her own but this is not required

Description: The ideal nanny will be interested in teaming up with the parents to raise their children to be thoughtful and caring individuals. This family enjoys an active lifestyle and outdoor activities. The parents foster open communication and honesty and. They are hoping to find a nanny to bond with their family for years to come. The boys currently attend Montessori school four mornings per week and this is within walking distance of the home. The boys are quite independent and interested in a variety of educational activities. The mother will be home on maternity leave for four months after the baby is born in November and be the primary caregiver for the baby during this time.

Type of Position: Full Time, 35-40 hours per week

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Wayzata

Children: 8 month and  4.5 year old boys 

Compensation:  $20+ per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: 35-40 hours over 4-5 days. Exact schedule to be determined with the candidate. Ideal candidate would have the flexibility to work some evenings and the ability to occasionally travel with the family. 

Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny/childcare experience with babies and pres-school age children. College education and background in early childhood education or development is preferred. The candidate should also be comfortable swimming with children and be CPR certified or willing to obtain. 

Description: The parents are seeking an engaging and dependable nanny to provide excellent care for their two boys. The ideal candidate would be warm, nurturing, energetic and fun. The candidate would also be conscientious, responsible and able to help maintain a consistent routine and foster the children's emotional and intellectual development. The more works part-time from a home office and will sometimes work alongside the nanny to go to the swimming pool or other activities. The older child attends pre-school during the days and the nanny's duties would include taking him to and from school and arranging other activities and outings. the family has a vehicle available for the nanny to sue to transport the children.
