Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • To be considered, an applicant must have a minimum of one year full time nanny employment experience that is current or very recent and other related child care employment or post secondary education. We are primarily referring nannies that have been placed and/or screened through our service previously. But we will consider new applications from nannies who have current and extensive nanny experience.  Most of our positions are with children birth to 5-6 years of age so employment experience with this age group is required unless the job is with school age children. .
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • Because of the requirements for prior nanny employment experience and preference for post secondary education, applicants will typically be at least 24 years old.
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position: Full Time

Start Date:  ASAP

Location: Deephaven

Children:  8 1/2 year old boy/girl twins

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance. The family provides a vehicle for transporting the children.

Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 to 10:00 pm and Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11:00 am to 6:00 pm with flexibility and ability to stay overnight as needed if parent is travelling. 

Additional Qualifiers: Experienced nanny with experience caring for school age children, reliable and comfortable around water

Description: This family is looking for a reliable, committed and fun nanny who enjoys outside activities, games and crafts.   Depending on the schedule and day, the nanny will typically pick the children up from school, transport to activities, prepare dinner or go out to dinner and do bath and bedtime routine. On the days that the nanny starts at 11:00 am, the family would like her to do errands, laundry and light housework before picking the children up at school.

Pets: Two hypoallergenic dogs


 

Type of Position: Part Time, 24-30 hours per week in four or five days, see schedule below

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Edina

Children:   12 year old boy and girl twins and 16 year old girl

Compensation: To $22 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 12:00 to 6:00 pm for 30 hours or Monday through Thursday, same schedule, for 24 hours per week.  If the nanny would like up to 35 hours, they can add more hours on one or two days per week.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny and household management experience with school age children. College education and/or teaching experience is a plus.

Description: This is a great family that has hired several nannies through our service over the years. The parents are seeking a nanny who can ensure a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment for their school-aged children. They also need help with management for their household with duties to include meal preparation, grocery shopping, errands, organizing house and play dates and activities.  It's important that the nanny is mature, energetic and enthusiastic and can partner with the parents to guide the children in their social/emotional development. Transporting the two younger children to activities in the afternoon is a big part of the job and the family reimburses standard per mile compensation.

Type of Position: Part Time, 30 hours in three days

Start Date: Negotiable but ASAP is best

Location: Inver Grove Heights

Children: 9 month old boy  

Compensation: To $18 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Will consider all options if the nanny candidate is a good choice for their family

Schedule: Wednesday and Thursday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and a block of six hours on Friday, to start no earlier than 10:00 am

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for infants, First Aid and CPR certified

Description:  All the care that is necessary, appropriate, safe and productive for a 9 month old child. The parents are seeking a nanny who communicates and listens well. As parents, they value reading, music, independent play and creative fun as enjoyable ways to help their son develop and grow. They hope to find a nanny who can follow instructions well but is also very experienced in helping children learn through play.

Pets: One small dog, Bichon-Shih Tzu mix


 

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 hours per week, schedule will vary

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Maple Grove

Children: 2 month old boy and  2 1/2 year old girl  

Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays,

Schedule: Initially the job would be four hours per day for five days per week. As the mother's work schedule varies, the hours would be adjusted to some full days, still minimum of 20 hours. The mother typically knows her work schedule two weeks in advance. This requires that the nanny can work a flexible schedule is able to work a combination of half and full days throughout the week.

Additional Qualifiers: Experienced nanny with infant care experience, also experience with toddler age

CPR certified or willing to obtain, willing to receive flu and Tdap vaccinations

Description:  Childcare is the primary focus of this job. If time allows, the family would appreciate help with laundry, pick up toys and dishes.  This family has used our temporary nanny service

Type of Position: Full Time,  36 hours in four days

Start Date:  ASAP

Location: Minneapolis, East Isles

Children:   5 month old, 2 year old and almost 4 year old boys

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance. The family provides a vehicle for transporting the children.

Schedule: Tuesday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, they would also love someone who is interested in occasional weekend care but this is not a requirement

Additional Qualifiers: Experienced nanny with infant care and multiple young children experience, current CPR or willing to obtain, related educational background is preferred but not required

Description:  An energetic, healthy, patient and loving nanny who is capable of caring for three young children will enjoy this active and fun family. The older boys enjoy reading, games, time outdoors and going to local parks. The parents like to maintain a routine of regular meal times and afternoon naps.  Three mornings per week, the two older boys are gone and they are home all day on Fridays. The nanny will need to drop them off and pick up at morning preschool.  Most of the time the mother, who works from a home office, can care for the infant while the nanny does the drop off.  

Pets: None currently, but they may get a non shedding dog in the future

Location: Minneapolis, Southwest

Children:   2 1/2 year old girl and expecting an infant girl in April

Compensation: To $850 per week, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule:  Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny experience with infants and toddlers, knowledge of child development, current or willing to receive flu and Tdap vaccinations, CPR certified or willing to obtain

Description:  The parents are seeking a reliable and experienced nanny with a knowledge of child development to provide loving care for their daughter(s). This will include planning both age appropriate play and activities in the home and  outings and play dates outside the home. The toddler girl will attend part time preschool in the fall when the mother returns to work after her leave and nanny has full care responsibility for the infant. The family enjoys a lot of kid centered activities in the community on the weekends. The father works from home in a basement office.  They don't have family support in the area so they really rely on the nanny to be reliable and a part of their family.

Type of Position: Full Time, 40-50 hours per week, see schedule below

Start Date: End of January

Location: Minneapolis, near St Anthony Main

Children:   3 month old boy

Compensation: To $1000 per week, depending on qualifications, willing to consider additional pay as needed for overnight or weekend care.

Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance

Schedule:  Full time hours which could be day, evening or weekend. There is the possibility that some overnights may be necessary in March, April and May. The parents know the schedule at least six weeks in advance.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny experience with infant care, CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain, current or willing to receive flu and Tdap vaccinations

Description:  The nanny's primary responsibility is to provide excellent care for the infant. A nanny with a background in education or child development is preferred. Currently, the mother is living in Minneapolis and father is working out of town until early summer. At that time, there is the possibility for more flexibility for the nanny's schedule. Given the unique family situation and the parents' professions, they need a care provider with flexible hours who is very reliable. Both parents enjoy physical activity and time outdoors.

Type of Position: Part Time, average 24 hours per week, see schedule below, family is open to meeting nannies who nearly meet the requested hours and open to discussing what may meet their needs

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Minneapolis, West River Pkwy

Children: 6 month old twin boys  

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: Paid vacation to be discussed

Schedule:  Tuesday 12:00 to 4:00 pm,  Wednesday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Thursday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and Friday for 5-8 hours between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Two weekend shifts per month for 4-5 hours.

Additional Qualifiers: Experienced nanny with infant care experience, ideally experience with multiples, some college or college degree preferred.

Description:  Care for the children is the nanny's primary responsibility. It's important that the nanny interact with the children in a positive and engaging way, record activity during the day and communicate with the parents daily. In addition, they would like the nanny to do small loads of the boys' laundry, wash bottles and keep space tidy. The parents are down to earth and have good senses of humor. They are looking for a nanny who can bring their own experience but also respect their wishes for care of their sons. Someone who is warm, flexible, patient and motivated would fit well with them. It's also important that the nanny is kind to the dog.

Type of Position: Part Time, two days per week and the family has flexibility on the number of hours per day and days of the week

Location: St Paul

Children:  2 month old and 2 year old girl  

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Schedule: Open to any two days per week for 8 hours per day but have flexibility on this

Additional Qualifiers: Nanny experience caring for infants and toddlers, First Aid and CPR certified and current vaccinations

Description:  The care of the children is the nanny's primary responsibility. The family enjoys walks outdoors and spending time with family while balancing two full time careers. The mother works long days and her schedule varies.  Currently the family employs a nanny and the parents are seeking to supplement her as she does not want to increase her hours when the baby is born. They can be flexible on the schedule and are very willing to work with someone who is a good candidate looking for part time.

Type of Position: Full Time,  35-40 hours

Start Date:  ASAP

Location: Wayzata

Children:   1 1/2 and 5 1/2 year old boys

Compensation: To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Benefits: PTO, holidays and contribution to medical insurance. The family provides a vehicle for transporting the children.  

Schedule: 35-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, daytime and evening hours. Exact schedule to be determined with the candidate, Occasional weekend, overnight and travel care.

Additional Qualifiers: Previous childcare or teaching experience with toddler and school age children. College degree and background in early childhood development is preferred. The candidate should also be comfortable swimming with children and CPR certified or willing to obtain.

Description:  The parents are seeking a long term, dependable nanny to provide excellent care for their two young boys. The ideal candidate would be engaging and fun, warm and nurturing, responsible and organized and flexible with a positive attitude. The candidate would be interested in child development and excited about working with children to foster their intellectual and emotional development. The job duties would also include managing household duties related to childcare. The older child attends kindergarten during the days. The nanny's duties would include taking the children to school/classes and arranging activities and outings. The family has a vehicle for the nanny to use to transport the children. The mother works part-time from a home office.
